Every Day Is Thanksgiving

Although I growl
When the alarm goes off every morning,
I am glad that I can hear it.
Because there are many that can’t.

Although I keep my eyes closed tight
Against the morning light,
I am glad that I can see it.
Because there are many who cant.

Although I curl up in my bed
And put off getting up,
Especially on a bitter winter morning
I am glad for the strength.
Because there are many who cant.

Although the first hour of my day is crazy,
Kids shoes and socks are nowhere to be found,
The toast is burned, my bag won’t close,
And irritation is aboune,
I am glad for my family.
Because there are many who are alone.

Although my kitchen table
Will never look like a magazine picture
And the menu is often last minute and unbalanced,
I am glad for the food we have.
Because there are many who go without.

Although my job is monotonous,
My boss and co workers can be cranky
And I am not always happy being there
I am glad for the opportunity to work.
There are many who are jobless.

Although I complain and moan
And wish my money wasn’t so tight,
I am glad for the gift of life.
For there are many who loose theirs.
